Why Was Eko Killed Off?

Eko In the last episode of Lost, “The Cost of Living”, Mr. Eko played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje was killed by the mysterious smoke monster. There are conflicting reports all over the internet about why he was chosen to be killed.

Yesterday TV Squad posted a round-up article of the various rumors surrounding Eko’s departure.

USA Today’s website claims that Adewale asked to written off the show after losing both of his parents the previous year and wanting to return home to direct a movie.

TV Guide’s Aussiello reports that Adewale was never intended to be a long term character much like Michelle Rodriguez (Ana Lucia).

TV Squad also reports that in the next issue of TV Guide it is mentioned that Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje had become hard to work with and refused to film scenes as scripted.
