As I mentioned in an earlier post, this episode had a shocking ending. It wasn’t that I didn’t see it coming but how it happened. As always if you haven’t seen “Two for the Road” stop reading this because it will contain spoilers.
The Flashback
This episode of Lost featured an Ana Lucia flashback and showed how she ended up in Australia. We first see Ana back as a police officer and her Mother, the chief of police, confronts her about the murder of the man she killed earlier in the season. Knowing that her secret is out, Ana Lucia quits the force and takes a job as airport security.
After work, Ana Lucia stops by the bar for a drink and runs into Jack’s father Christian Shepherd. Christian proposes that she goes with him to Australia and provide “protective services.”
In Australia, Ana gets up to have a drink in the middle of the night and is interrupted by Christian Shepherd wanting to go for a drive. They pull upto a house in the suburbs and Christian gets into an argument with a lady about his daughter. Ana interrupts the argument, yells at Christian and drags him to the car.
On the road Ana Lucia stops the car in front of a bar and Christian wants to get a drink. Ana declines his offer and Christian goes by himself. On the way into the bar he bumps the door into Sawyer who was on his way into the bar himself. So we can time this scene just before the bar scene from the season one finale.
Ana Lucia decides to head back to LA and sees Jack talking to a Oceanic Airlines worker about his dead father. Ana calls her mother and says she wants to come home.
On the Island
Ana Lucia starts questioning “Henry” and he lures her closer with soft inaudible mumbling. When she steps closer, he chokes her until Locke shows up and knocks him out with the butt of his crutch.
Locke asks “Henry” why he didnt kill him when he had the chance. Henry said when the French lady found him, he was on his way to get get him. Locke looks confused and “Henry” says “because you are one of the good ones.”
Jack and Kate bring Michael into the hatch and they wait until he wakes up. When Michael wakes up he immediately explains that he had seen the “Others” and they are old and mostly women. Michael saw them living in tents and he spotted a new hatch.
Michael begins to have a hard time talking to Jack about Walt and says he couldn’t save him.
Ana Lucia sneaks up on Sawyer and demands a gun. Sawyer tells her to take a hike and she ends up wrestling him to the ground. The two end up sleeping together and she steals his gun while his guard is down.
Jack apologizes to Locke for doubting him about “Henry.” This reminded me of when Locke found out about Kate’s secret in the first season, Locke gives a guilt trip only to be exposed himself as keeping secrets (the hatch). This time he knows about the blast door and important info about “Henry.”
Hurley and Libby go for a picnic but get lost. Hurley forgets half the picnic essentials and she heads to the hatch for some blankets.
Ana Lucia confronts “Henry” with the intentions of killing him. “Henry” explains that she wasn’t a good person but Goodwin thought he could change her. Ana Lucia changes her mind and hands the gun to Michael outside the hatch.
Michael looks at the gun and apologizes to Ana. He begins to shake and shoots her in the chest. Michael stares at the gun and Libby walks into the room, before she can grasp what has happened to Ana, Michael unloads two shots. Michael stands before the gun locker which holds “Henry” and is overcome by what is happening. He opens the door, stares at “Henry” and shoots himself in the shoulder. Episode ends…

Gracias for the recap. It was a brilliant episode. I can’t wait to see what happens to Eko. I hope it doesn’t involve Locke. I love that character and don’t think I would continue watching the show if he were to join the Others (unless that means he gets to kick Jack’s arse… he annoys me)…
Aloha from Oahu… on vacation from LA
Yes it was a great episode. I agree I would be very disappointed if Locke turned out to be an other.
Great episode, not as amazing as Lockdown - which has been my favourite. But a great episode none-the-less.
Ana-lucia was annoying me, good job she died!
[…] Well we all saw it coming at some occasion that Ana Lucia and Libby would meet their untimely demise on the show but not in the circumstances that we did. Michael goes to the Hatch asking for the gun and code for the armory and well he takes the gun and then BAM!!! shoots Ana Lucia and she slumps down like shes dead already and then Libby comes in and Michael Turns and BAM!!! shes a goner 2 shots in her stomach….it just shocked me when I heard this and then when seeing it I was nearly in awe of Michael really of what he had done…and then he went and unlocked the armory and looked at Henry/Prisoner and shot himself in the arm so he could escape…madness really madness!!!…If you want to read what exactly went down in “2 for the Road” then check out Andfound for all the lowdown. Now for next week…its the infamous episode thats just named “?” and whys it named that well theres a little map we saw a while back in “Lockdown” and “?” was in the middle and heres the promo and wtf we cant have Eko die!!! What the hell is wrong with Michael? He’s going insane!
You have to ask yourself, is there anything Michael wont do to get Walt back. Unfortunately I don’t think there is much. I think it will all come down to how long it takes the flight 815 survivors to figure out Michael’s scheme.
Also, I believe Michael could possibly try and make things right once he realizes what he has done. It will probably be to late though.
