So today the Hanso Foundation site has relaunched and the Lost Experience alternate reality game has begun. The site is absolutely amazing and it far passes my expectations.
Since the UK received the first clue during the season 2 premier, we can already start digging deeper into the site. The phone number given during the UK Hanso Foundation Commercial is 0800 66 66 40 and you get asked for an extension when calling. These are the extension’s so far:
- General info
- Alvar Hanso
- Dr. Thomas Mittelwerk
- Hugh McIntyre
- Peter Thompson
Now on the Hanso Foundation website the welcome message recommends for you to join the newsletter. Click on the newsletter and you will be prompted for a screen name and password. The password has yet to be found on the forums I have checked is breaking strain.
The website will then display a chat log from Persephone and he/she tells you to check back for updates. An image of Joop the orangoutang flashes on the screen and the website is restored to its original form.
I will be launching a whole new section on AndFound later this week to keep track of what is going on so keep checking back.

Just used the site and used the ‘breaking strain’ password. Becausee the image of joop the orangatan pops up at the end, I went to his section of the site. I discovered that you can send him a message. Write anything you want, it doesn’t matter, but it sends you to another page. This one’s pretty freaky but keep pressing the circles so they form lines together until a red circle pops up. Press this and you are shown correspondance between the Hanso Foundation and the Global Welfare Consortium about a disease outbreak in Tanzania. Click on the signature and it takes you to the next letter. In this one it is obvious that the new Head of GWC has been replaced by Peter Thompson, one of the Board of Directors at Hanson, where he apologises for the threatening tone of the first letter. Click on his signature and it writes “The Hanso Foundation: Setting world speed records for subverting authority”. CLick on it again and it takes you back to the main Joop page.
sorry, should have put a warning on that for people who don’t want to cheat too much…
i’m guessing the next clue will help get you through the board of director’s page as this is password locked. anyone got any ideas?
Thanks for the updates Laura, Im betting a lot more will be revealed with tomorrows clue then things will slow down because they are going to need to pace themselves to last all summer.

Hi laura, thanks for the help, im amazed by this game, and although im in the UK and its 2 in the morning, im hooked! Ive just tried entering that world speed record message in the “inquire here” section under the mental health appeal with no luck, perhaps im entering it wrong? Just a little update, if you now go back to the newsletter page andd log in again, it says welcome back, no new messages. perhaps we have to wait a while to receive a message?

A puzzle comes up… click the circles that are highlighted (two at a time)
Finally a red circle appears, click that and a doccument appears…
click the screen once, then you have control over the motion of the circle, and can read the full text.

Me aqain, although i cant take credit for this one, i was browsing some other forums and discovered that after doing all of the above, if you click on the world warefare section and then the world map, theres a spot you can click over the bemuda triangle. In the info section itl be completely blank. Put your curser over the middle section and look hard, theres a hidden code! The two sets of numbers, when assigned an alphabetical number form “missing organs” but i cant find anywhere to enter this. As i said i didnt discover that myself but thought id pass it on!

Hi, just wanted to post my experience of this so far. I’m in the UK watched Series 2 first show last night. At the end there was an obviously fake TV ad for the Hanso Corporation. Rang the number immediately. Listened to various options (with no idea that this was a Lost ‘teaser’). Rang again in the morning (I love viral ‘mysteries’ and was determined to ‘crack’ this one). Message had changed! With no menu options! Went on website. Discovered the Persephone link myself. Phoned number again. Menu options back. On third attempt triggered different tape and heard Persephone talking right at the end of the ‘option 1′ general loop. Keyed in Breaking Strain as she instructed. Waiting for fresh messages… I’m actually disapointed to learn that this is just a Lost promo. Very interesting and clever though - love the way the phone messages change and go live/dead.

The main page of the Hanso site now has a pdf. press release apologising for the “disruption” to the site. I’m guessing that means the whole Persephone thing. The bottom of it has a phone number and email address for Hugh McIntyre. I’m in England so can’t really afford to ring a random US number but have emailed the address, though so far no response.

ok, have just had a root around on the internet and discovered www.thelostexperience.com which explains in a long and very complicated way that the series of numbers on the persephone site apparently means: “Log in at THF.org May 8 This safe for now” So I’m guessing the next update is tomorrow…

I know there is supposed to be something today but what, I don’t know. There is the message from Persephone “SIGN IN WITH HANSO PR CLUE. 8, NOT 1 AND 6″ but that isn’t from today.

Go to the Executive Bios section and click on the highlighted date under the photo of Alvar Hanso.
This will basically show you the last known public appearances of Hanso and the fact he’s not been seen since 2002. There’s also some weird noises. Not sure if it’s background noise or something but right now I’m suspecting there’s probably some morse code or something similar. I’m checking it out now and then I really have to go to bed…

sorry colin, what i said there was a bit misleading! if you leave the screen running on the whole “Where is Alvar Hanso? Is he hiding bit” the image eventually cuts to the morse code thing. Hope that helps. All I’ve got through a morse code translator thing is that it means ‘Safe 9′ though another website is saying it means ‘Safer’ so I’m not sure.

During tonight’s English episode of Lost they showed the Hanso advert again with the freephone number (well, it’s free so why not!) which is 0800 66 66 40.
If you choose option 2 (Alvar Hanso’s line) it’s now been hacked by Persephone, with the same audio that is used on that section of the website asking where he is hiding.
If you choose option 3 (Thomas Mittlewerk) it explains he’ll be back in the office in 3 weeks (possibly time for a clue to do with him then) but if you are part of Pink Heavy Industry (may have heard that wrong as it sounds a bit porn film-ish!) or Whitmore Organisation, you should check your project manual for instructions to access the confidential hotline. Shame I don’t have that manual…
If you choose option 4 (Hugh McIntyre), the voicemail points out that if you are calling about the inquiry into the Korea offshore project, you need to talk to the legal department. He’l be back in two weeks. There are also two voicemail messages. One is from Thomas (presumably Mittlewerk) where he claims that the “changes are good work” but that they need to put “a public face” to the “accelerated remote viewing facility”…is this a reference to Korea or somewhere else ie: the Lost island. THe second voicemail message is from a Scottish women called Darla saying they need to talk about Sri Lanka becauce “it just isn’t right”.
Option 5 (Peter Thompson) is answered by a woman but is interrupted by Thompson who yells “Give me the phone, Irene!” and then proceeds to say that anyone who makes threats against him, his staff or family will be tracked down and prosecuted. He sounds both angry and a little bit worried. Is this Persephone’s work?
Also, the hold ‘music’ is what sounds like rap music (any significance to the specific songs, I don’t know what they are) and the speech is in German, except for references to uploading your CV monster.com. Anyone speak German who can lend a hand?

Very odd very odd indeed. Called the phone line last week people i was watchin telly with thought i was mad to call that number but i knew i was on to somtin lost related! Have been tryin to get on the website all day though and theres nothin doin, as you go on it advises you to update flash or go in, the front screen just says HANS as you proceed the next page is pretty blank you can see bits of frames but not much else till you click show all then you get a little buton and a pop up with little bits of info about a chimps 105th birthday, wonder what ll happen when he hits 108!It also says the site is having technical difficulties, is this all part of the fun or have a pick a bad day to play detective?
PS guess every one but me spotted this a while ago but have you noticed that all the numbers add up to 108 the maddness continues!

Apparently if you emailed Hugh McIntyre from the address in the ‘Site Disruption’ press release, you will probably get a reply soon. So far quite a few people have but seeing as some saddo with too much time on his hands has previously hacked in to the voicemail accounts on the freephone Hanso numbers to screw everyone up, I’m a little bit sceptical. I haven’t got a response yet, though if it’s automated, it may be because I failed to use keywords. Anyone had any luck?
Oh, forgot to mention that there’s been a news update on the Hanso homepage. There’s now a press release from Hugh McIntyre denouncing Gary Troup’s book ‘Bad Twin’ which apparently attacks their reputation and features “misinformation” on Hanso. You can check the book out at www.amazon.com.
There is also a letter from McIntyre to the publishers, which basically demands the immediate withdrawl of the book. You can read it yourself at here

Anyone else hang out on the picture of Joop after reading the Hanson letter? I get some strange scribbles and a shadowy image (of a man/ape???) that fades in and then out…… The scribbles resemble a child’s drawing or maybe like you get when you track an animal in teh wild and show the tracking over time on a screen…..

Also could this whole idea of Dharma and the secret hospital in the Burmuda Triangle region of the Worldwide Wellness and Prevention Development Program world map and the crash of Oceanic Flight 815 along with the other planes and shipwrecks by the island all be tied by the producers of lost to what has happened with other mysterious plane crashes and shipwrecks in real life in the area of the Bermuda Triangle?

Okay, Here are all the secret places I have found thus far:
1. In the Newsletter (Sign up) page, type in any name, and for the password, use ‘breaking strain’. You will get a message from Persephone.
2. In Joop’s Corner, click Send a Message Here, and type in “breaking strain”. You will see a circles which you have to click to connect lines. Then you will see some documents.
3. In Executive Bios, click on the date (October 28,2003) below Alvar Hanso’s picture. It will show a movie.
4. In Executive Bios, click on Dr. Thomas Mittlewerk and then in the blank type “Heir Apparent”. You will see a freaky video, and then a document.
maybe im the only one who noticed this but: in the TV ad, if you play around with the play bar at the bottom of the screen and pause it inbetween the part of the ad that shows Hanso and when it shows the sunsetting, theres a wierd colon (:) and some writing that i haven’t been able to read. if anyone can make out what it says please tell.
o ya one more thing, when you enter ‘heir apparent’ in thomas wittlework’s profile and you get the whole weird thing, when it shows the girl (Persephone) in the hall, before you click on her at the bottom of the screen it shows the numbers 2630 not sure if they mean anything but just thought i’d share

On the “Mission Statement” page all the logos are lined up and kinda look like they could be an anagram? They include the letters required for “Dharma” and possible anagrams come up with words like “map” and “flipped” but I can’t come up with anything sensible. Anyone else?
Aha! Has anyone looked ay Peter Thompson’s profile lately? My version has letters flashing up in the backgound. Large and too fast to read but will try to get a few screen shots.
There is also a box under Peter Thompson’s profile in which you can enter text and this starts a “process” when you press enter, but no luck yet with what text to use.

I was looking on the “let your compass guide you” website and found these two documents on P Thompsons mail.
They seem to be an order The Hanso Foundation has placed for some veichles made by DaimlerChrysler.
On the second document it reads that the company placed an order for:

I have absolutely no idea as to why they would need these cars but if you could give me any info that would be great.

Okay, on Peter Thompson page, i found out, by slowing down the sequence, that it is spelling out suvivors guilt. type this into the box at the bottom of his picture and a bunch of documents appear ultimatly leading you to believe that he has helped spread cancer. Thompson had cancer so maybe thats the survivors guilt part. in the backround of the documents you see a shadow of a figuer, perhaps Alvar Hanso, maybe not.
On the “Let your compass guide you” site go to Hugh McIntyre’s file and look at his mail. There’s a b&w picture of Jeeps. Next to the statue in small print is The Mouth Piece. I don’t know if this is his password or not. I couldn’t get it to work. Also when you look at the Jeep commercial on Peter Thompson’s mail there are links to the right. If you click on Darhma you can see a small clip about the Darhma Initiative. Here again I don’t know the meaning behind it.
was screwing around on the hanso website and discovered a link to the website letyourcompassguideyou.com, go to the electromagnetism project in the active projects and you’ll notice that the x and y numbers in the center picture change with the movement of your mouse. The date below the picture reads october 62, 9291. Line the the two up x-629 y-291, it’ll be directly in the center of the graph to the right, click on it. A compass appears in the middle of the graph, click it again and it takes you to the other website. Also, besides the words “the mouth piece” appearing on the jeep advertisement page, you find it again when you click on inbox in peter thompsons mail. You’ll see a google site(basically binary code googled)with binary code just above it. Uncode it and you get “the mouth piece”.
Sometimes when I’m on the Hanso site I hear a noise like a disruption in the background music. Today when it did this the date at the top of the screen turned into the words obey. When clicked this will lead you to the sublymonal site. I know the info at the sublymonal site is old news, but I hadn’t seen a posting about the date turning into obey and thought I’d share it with you all.

Have you ever noticed that once youve gotten to the large compass on your way to the letyourcompassguildyou site, at the top of the screen where right now as you are reading this it will probably say “the hanso foundation relauches at And Found”, it reads on the compass site, “Permissium Vestri Complector Vector Vos.” Im not sure what language its all in (some sounds like latin, some greek and the vos sounds german haha)…not sure if it even means anything. If any one finds out what language or the meaning, i’m incredibly curious.

Been away for a while but I’m back with a vengance! If you check the Peter Thompson mail through the compass website and decode the binary (as already mentioned above), you get the phrase ‘the mouth piece’. This is actually the password for Hugh McIntyre’s bio on the executive page. Write it as one word (themouthpiece) and the phrase ‘family man’ gets highlighted on his bio. Click this and it takes you through to Persephone basically showing you he’s been having an affair and, I think, possibly has some drug debts.
Problem is, I got through to all this when I was running late so didn’t get a chance to look at it properly and the link’s not working for me now. How is it for everyone else?
Let me know if anybody else has seen this, but i was on the first bio page on the compass site and clicked on alvar hansos pg which normally brings you to the executive bios pg on the hanso site, but then it started acting funny. The normally blue background turned red and the usual hanso loading symbol in the center kept rotating and cycling through 4%,8%,15%,16%,23%,42%. I tried clicking on a bunch of menu options on the left and couldn’t do anything. Finally realized i had to use the login box in the lower right corner and tried breaking strain and then the mouth piece…something started to load but my crappy computer closed all my open internet windows and i lost it. I tried to get back a few times, but couldn’t. If anybody else gets it gimme an update.

I couldn’t get themouthpiece to work on Hugh McIntyre’s page and I didn’t see the words family man in the bio either. Jack, I did the Alvar Hanso thing on the compass page and the Hanso site came right up. Maybe it was your computer. With this crazy game who knows.
Did you notice when you first bring up the compass site and have your cursor over the 108 an alpha-numeric number comes up on the compass itself? I think it’s DI9FFTR731 or the last 2 digits could be 51.
ive read that someone slowed down the letters flashing on peter thompsons picture and they spelled “survivors guilt” and that this was a password but it hasnt worked for me. anybody else try it?

Have you guys found the secret code on the HansoCareers.com page. If you take all the grey letters from the page it spells out ‘INMATE ASYLUM” then if you go to the Bourd of Dirrects and click on Lawerence Peck and put INMATE ASYLUM into the password - you do not need a login name - it will highlight two of the dirretors and then give you some really interesting information.
I watched the orientation video in the lost episode the other day. I noticed that the date the Dharma Initive began 1970, however there is a line of text at the end of the film which says “Copyright Hanso Foundation 1968″, might mean somthing?
You know, that INMATE ASYLUM thing does not work. Don’t waste your time like I did.
Keep at it Dan. I tried it a dozen times since Wed. and finally this morning it worked. My son was coaching me through it yesterday and it still didn’t work. I thought I’d give it one more go this morning and there it was. I had the same problem with the Hugh McIntyre clue.
The Squidoo site says it’s fake, I just thought it was weird that it had a link from the Widemore Laboratories site.

For some of the clues to work, you need to have gone through the process to “obtain” the password first. For example, the “inmate asylum” clue will not work on the “Lawrence Peck” page unless you have first gone to the careers page, selected a job (which includes the secret letters spelling inmate asylum), selected an invisible link at the bottom of the job description which takes you back to the Hanso site where you can go back to the board of directors. Somehow, it remembers what you have done and where you have been, and when you return to the Hanso site it is slightly different. Sometimes you need to “log in” on the newsletter page to get passwords to work. This is becoming more difficult, as even some of the clues are no longer straightforward, such as dropping spaces (e.g. mouthpiece instead of mouth piece).
